It’s Time for the Holiday Spectacular at the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club

Call it the future members of the Stars on Ice cast. Or you can call it by its real name: Holiday Spectacular.

On December 15th, skaters from the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club will display their talents in an ice show at West Edmonton Mall for an anticipated audience of 450. Shoppers are invited to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas rush and take in the 115 skaters who will take to the ice.

When the show, starting at 1 p.m., includes an impressive line-up.

Fresh off a win at Skate Canada Challenge in Regina, Sask., Kaetlyn Osmond headlines the Holiday Spectacular.

At 17 years old, Osmond is already the 2012 Senior Canadian bronze medallist, 2012 Skate Canada Champion, and 2012 Nebelhorn Trophy winner. She’s aiming for the top of the podium next month at the Canadians in Mississauga, Ont. Osmond will be signing autographs at Thomas Sabo in West Edmonton Mall from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.


Two pairs team will perform in the Holiday Spectacular: Taylor LeClaire and Christopher Mostert, and Kendra Digness and Eric Thiessen. Both teams advanced to the Canadian Tire Skating Championships after qualifying at Skate Canada Challenge. LeClaire and Mostert will also compete in singles at Canadians in their respective disciplines, Novice and Junior.

After the Alberta-NWT/Nunavut Sectionals, the Ice Palace FSC can boast several champions and successful skaters. LeClaire takes to the ice as Novice champion; Ceduna Magee skates at the Junior Woman level; Christopher Mostert is the Junior Men champion, and Jane Gray is the Senior Women champion.

Senior, Junior, Intermediate, and CanSkate will skate groups will perform numbers, displaying their skills and talents.

Passing tests, winning medals, and earning badges requires work and effort, and it’s no small feat for the skaters, aged five to 20. They need the support and encouragement from parents and coaches.

And most importantly, the community.
