I’m a competitive adult figure skater with photos of my bruises as proof.
As a teenager, I could be found at the Arborg Skating Club or my home rink.
However, health problems dashed my dreams of landing a double loop, and I stepped away from qualifying competition. When I could return to the ice, I competed in non-qualifying events.
In 2016, I came out of retirement, entering my first competition in 22 years – winning the gold medal in Adult Intro Interpretive.
My background is broadcasting. After working for Shaw TV Edmonton, I was the freelance figure skating reporter with the Edmonton Journal. Besides skating, I’ve covered football, soccer, and – of course – hockey.
I’m writing a memoir about my time on ice, including the time I was nearly disqualified from a regional competition.
